I remember listening to him on Radio Luxembourg. He was very popular, but I was
never really a great fan of his. I always found him a rather strange person.

He certainly did a lot for charity though, and brightened up people's lives.

A TV documentary will accuse late broadcaster and charity campaigner Sir Jimmy Savile
of being a paedophile, it has been reported.

The programme, which is set to air on ITV1 ahead of the first anniversary of Savile's
death in October, will be presented by criminologist and child protection expert Mark
Williams-Thomas.

Maybe he was. Maybe he wasn't. But I've always believed you should be able to defend any allegations against yourself. How these jellyfish like producers can be allowed to air a one sided story, is beyond me.

Some folk are just sick - the only way this documentary director could make this program is if Jimmy was dead and not here to answer the accusations. Hope Jimmy's friends and relatives take the programme makers to the cleaners. Kicking people when they are down is one thing but when they are dead...... it's sick and paverse

It will always happen, whether the accused is dead or not.

Many things are deliberately hushed up until the accused is dead, and in his case I don't
believe he has any close family still alive. We shall have to wait until October before we
hear the evidence. The BBC will have some serious questions to answer, if they knew
what he was allegedly up to, and did nothing.

Many people in show business were secret, and some not so secret gays, when it was
something you kept secret. Today it isn't a big issue. Kenneth Williams comes to mind.

Then look at Hattie Jacques, and the terrible way she treated her husband, John Le
Mesurier

I doubt that would happen. Nothing to do with his friends, and I would have thought that
any relatives wouldn't want to make a fuss. Even if the evidence against him
is irrefutable, people will soon forget.

If he is judged to be guilty, should it just be swept under the carpet ? In the same way
that the Catholic church tried to ignore child abuse by their priests ?

I prefer to keep an open mind.

Im sorry but if there is any truth in this at all, it SHOULD be made public. If its true there are victims who have to live all their lives with it so why should anyone be able to evade the facts. Okay, he is dead but how would you feel if you had been a victim of such crime and not been able to do anything about it, yet you watch the perpertrator being treated as a magnificent individual either in life or otherwise.
I havent a clue as to the truthfulness or otherwise of what will be aired but if there is any truth at all in it, the public need to know and the victims will then get some closure.
You cant change what has happened, but that doesnt mean we should ignore it.
