You do often see tractors and other farm machinery left unattended in fields though.

...and here, that is why you see these at any agricultural event, including ploughing matches.

I know for a fact that my two biggest farms have all their machinery fitted with trackers, it's all part of their insurance conditions I think? - no tracking device = no insurance. Apparently it's pretty cheap to do. My ipad and iphone are fitted with one of the same...... always leave my ipad loafing around the house so if I get burgled and they are thick enough to nick it I can trace them to their front door :g42:
Swing till you drop...... if in doubt - DIG IT!!

We have a small haulage business and some years ago now , we had 2 vehicles stolen both mercs, one one week and one the next .
Both ended up in africa How we found out the police had cracked a organised gang stealing lorries to order and traced a load of them including ours .
The police told us that they drive them straight into a container , then break them at the other end !

i have a mate who is head green keeper at a golf course and not long ago they had a brand new £35K mower nicked out of a locked unit a week after the bought it, then after they got the replacement they had that nicked as well along with 5 other bits of plant, thing is there is a gypsy camp just down the road and they reckon they were being watched.......now the isurance company has said if they want more insurance the must build a better more secure unit and the premiums have sky rocketed.
Sometimes too much to drink is barely enough.
