This is being shared by some of the TT team and other TV Archaeologists including Tony Pollard from Two Men in a Trench. It may be a great idea if the Detecting community could could join in?

Hi every one, as you have all heard the sad news of the death of Mick Aston, the plan is to try and have a one minute silence on the day and on the time of his funeral. If we could do this on every excavation and archaeological project going on across the country and perhaps further afield, I think that would be a fitting tribute from us as a profession to some one who was an insperational archaeologist and teacher. John Gater is going to let me know the details and I will pass them on asap. Please share this.

Back from Mick's funeral, which was this morning. Apologies for keeping it quiet, as I know a lot of people would have liked to have attended, but the family wanted it limited it to family and friends, and, particularly, no press or media intrusion. As it was, it was packed to the rafters, with many of us standing. The family have also said that if anyone would like to make a donation in Mick's memory, two of his favourite causes were Sight Savers and the Young Archaeologists' Club. Donations can be made directly or c/o Co-operative Funeralcare, 48b Upper Bristol Rd, Weston-super-Mare, BS22 8DP. Finally, Teresa, Mick's partner, asked me to thank you all for the many tributes to Mick that you have left on this page over the past couple of weeks. She has been reading them when she's had time, and is deeply touched.
