I wonder why the landowner (the Church) was not entitled to 50% of the payment, like what would happen in England?

An interesting comment at the foot of the article from a Susannah McSweeney:
Derek also broke gentelman" agreements with his team mates, including my husband. There was 4 of them including Derek's wife sharon, not just the church of Scotland. The pictures used above were also taken by my husband and my husbands hand is also in the picture holding the gold pin. The other 2 men including my husband were also snubbed by Derek after the viking hoard was claimed and since broken off all contact and never had any recognition for being there to unearth the treasure. What was done was shady and despicable.

On the same note, did anyone follow the Bones series on tv. Season 12 episode 8 and 13 minutes in. The last Season was filmed in 2017 and they mentioned about a Viking hoard found a couple of years ago or so (which would have placed it around 2014). I wondered if it was based on Derek's find ?
