I wish you would change the title of this post to thieves with metal detectors because that is what they are. Nighthawk is a glamourus sounding word in non-detecting circles.

The article has got somehting right in using the above term and not nighthawkers.

They are thieves, robbers, and grave snatchers pure $%^&% filth!

The article does allow people to post comments up, might be worthwhile. I can't help but think they've hammed the story up a bit. A few Roman Coins and maybe the odd Brooch does not a story make. At least thats what the time team are always saying. They make it sound as though the Ark of the Covenant has been nicked.

Unfortunately your average Jo Public doesn't know any better and will believe whatever they print.
