Post by Old Git John »

A few days ago I contacted the British Button Society, when try to get info about someones find.

They have been very helpful, and have suggested that, those with an interest may wish to join the society.

This can be done at ;- http://www.britishbuttonsociety.org
I used to have an issue regarding having an inferiority complex, I no longer have an issue with being inferior.

One of my customers is a button collector. Alway interested in the one I've found. She said that even thou they are grotty, they are worth keeping as a referance source. The odd good one does turn up, and having an idea of the age of found buttons can tell you something about the age of the site.

Paul, even the grottiest of roman grots are now of interest to the FLO's as they are filling in the details of roman occupation. So it is well worth getting them recorded and not just "ditching".

Down here in Cornwall a roman grot is a prized find,i can remember being over the moon with my first one, haven`t found many since `cept for a few off the beach.
Buttons, good or bad are also prized,we can go an hour or more without a signal and the humble button can make our day.
`tis all relative i spose, but i like buttons and lead seals.
