This sounds good as well.

Time travel

The other big feature launched today is Historical Imagery, a feature that enables users to virtually travel back in time through archival satellite and aerial imagery.

In previous versions of Google Earth, users could only view only one set of imagery for a given location. Now users can activate a time slider to see both newer and older satellite imagery from around the globe, enabling them to observe a single location's development over time.

Does sound good Barry :g50:

It's very handy to be able to upload direct to Google Earth without having to make a kml file first using another programme.

Just down loaded it and had a quick play. The historical images take a while to download but once there are brilliant. I took a look at the one field every year for the last 4 years. Well worth down loading. :g50: :g50: :g50: :g50: :g50: Phil you just need to do some re-writing. :hahaha:

How do you get it to download the historical images, the date changes when I move the slider but the image doesn't change and there's no sign of downloading?

I was playing with the slider, I think I moved the left half to the left. This seemed to bring up a 1990's date. I then clicked on the division marks. The slider then moves to that division and displays a date. The image updates with that years image.

It was only a quick play and I've got to go out in a few minutes. I'll have to sit down and have a real play with it. I did notice that you can not go more then a few years back.

OK just had a bit more of a play, the historic data is patchy, my home only has the current year. A roman site about 6 miles away has 4 years and a club site about 10 miles away has 6 years worth. A work still in progress me thinks. Still worth down loading.

Hi Jon, it's a detecting trip, but there's them that get to detect and find good stuff and them that try to detect and take piccies of those who find good stuff with their finds for the Cubs Newsletter, so I end up chasing about all over the place :g42:

Think I have got it now, it shows lots of dates even if there is only one image to look at.

If you select somewhere like London little bars appear in the timeline, one for each image which can be selected by positioning the right slider.

I notice Google doesn't set up folders for the waypoints and tracklogs like it does when it imports a kml file, so you can't change the name of the waypoints.

It messed up some of my logs, it showed all the track points so the screen overloaded with points. I've had to do some editing to clean up my logs. :g43:

Is it ok if you uncheck the ''create clickable image for track and route points'' in the ''tools/gps/historical'' window?
