Post subject:  letter of introduction

Hi
I am reasonably new to this game and I have tried finding somewhere to detect but to no avail, is there any form of help out there that can give me some idea's on how to put my request to landowners/Farmers in writing so that they know that I am a genuine detectorist and not some flyboy who is only out to rip them off, I really love detecting but I am finding it so difficult to find anywhere.

I know Diamond I have tried this but as soon as you approach people round my way they never seem to have the time to talk to you its so disheartening but thanks for the advice.

My name is Deepseeker (or Tony) Rik, Diamond is my status here but I can put up with Diamond.. :g42:

keep asking ..the Farmers are very busy people sometimes it is easier to catch them whilst they are working the land rather than disturbing them at home and at rest.. Norfolk is a very hard place to obtain permission due to the very productive sites in the area and obviously they get fed up with the constant 'pestering' just keep at it and one time you will get a door open to you.

Just remember when you do get in, make sure you always show everything you find either on the day or on your next visit if he is busy.. and if he takes a liking to one or some of your finds let him have it/them (subject to Treasure laws) once you have a good relationship you can ask if he could recommend you to his fellow farmers but always ask if it would be OK to use him as a reference. Good Hunting

You could try starting weekend digs, the clubs around our area have no problem obtaining land at £10 a head with a minimum of ten people, but you still have to put in the leg work to obtain permission, but that minimum £100 for a day tends to open the door :g58:
