Do you need to be in a metal detecting club to join in a rally

It depends....
Some rallies only allow club members
Some rallies are open to all comers depending on numbers.

...and some rallies insist on NCMD or FID membership.
Professionally aimless wandering.

Hi Andy

What area are you in?

There are loads of groups that have open digs and rallies. Have look on the NCMD website for clubs nears you. http://www.ncmd.co.uk/regions%20and%20clubs.htm

Its worth joining that way you are insured, all clubs usually insist on people attending having insurance.

Good luck

You would need (at least) an NCMD card http://www.ncmd.co.uk/

The next bit depends on the organisers, some are commercial enterprises who only want your £10/£20/£50 .... a genuine Club will offer you so much more as already highlighted. :g50:

Dont forget you need NCMD/FID insurance whether you go on a rally, hit your own permission, or go for a wander down the beach!!!
But to reitterate you can go on any rally so long as the organisers allow you to go ... some clubs allow non=members .. some dont.
