Being very new to detecting I've been doing a lot of reading. Something that's been mentioned several times is "insurance". I think it would be a good idea especially for when I eventually get permission and it would probably help get permission in the first place.
Where do people recommend getting insurance from?

Please bear in mind that the NCMD have fought for the hobby in the past.

NCMD still lead when it comes to fighting for our hobby.

Code of conduct is just one example.

It is also very affordable.

Accountable, democratic, transparent.... and even have committee folk "keeping a finger on the pulse" on forums & social media.

Free quarterly colour mags, competitions, giveaways and representation on several Government committees and pressure groups..... not bad for the price of 2 pints!

Oh......and £10 million in public liability insurance........

if you paid online then your receipt acts as cover until the card arrives.

I have insurance with NCMD. My understanding is that you can only have insurance with one company, not multiples of insurance from joining other groups. Is this correct? Experience of insurance companies is that they would be inclined to say my insurance would be invalid because I have more than one policy. I know you can’t do it for cars so ……. Would be pleased to hear from anyone about this. Thanks.

Hi LadyPenelope5, Your NCMD insurance will cover you weather you are detecting alone, with a friend, who will also need his/here own insurance, or on a club dig or major detecting event
