Identifying Your Find Spots

ID'ing Your Find Spots
The Code of Practice for Responsible Metal Detecting in England and Wales says being responsible means recording find spots as accurately as possible for all finds (I.e. to at least a one hundred metre square, using an Ordnance Survey map or hand held Global Positioning Systems (GPS) device (accurate to ten metres square or better) whilst in the field.
The more accurately you ID your find spot, the more valuable will be the information that it can pass on to future generations should you record the find with the Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS).

Please note that find spot information should not be passed on to other parties without the agreement of the landowner/occupier.
