It looks like the Goverment wants it to be up to the detectorists to flag up the sites where it is happening and to provide evidence for them to act upon.

Snap Phil, interesting debate. But the minister wants good hard evidence so that the right bodies can start taking action against the polluters.

And there will be a dilema ...... many farmers have no idea whats in CGW...... I told one and he cancelled future loads, and then (conveniently) the plant producing it burnt down & the company went bust...just as they got fined tens of thousands.
My personal view would be talking to the farmer first and explaining it rather than getting onto the EA and risking prosecution for the farmer. The farmer could then choose if he wantsa it on his land or return it as "unfit".
I was suprised that the non compostable % is as low as 0.25%....... I`ve seen stuff far,far worse.

So what does 0.25% work out in real terms of weight per ton, maths not being a stronge point?
