A mate of mine found this today in N Glos area, seems very unusual to me, unlike the usual crested buttons I find anyway but I have faith that team Kev/Dave will sort it!!

I've hijacked our club forum for the photo so unable to re-shoot it, however we have a club meeting tomorrow night so can ask to borrow it for better shots if you feel it's necessary and will help to ID.

Thanks in advance, Andy

I've turned it the right way up so it's easier to ID. :g62:
It's an unmarried woman's livery button, and the quartered Arms on it were probably her fathers, but he probably had them on a shield shaped more like a shield than a lozenge....

This livery button appears to be a flat, coin like disk. No back mark but a central shank mark.
Found in N Norfolk.

Her surname would have been COLMORE or CREGOE-COLMORE. :g50:

The quartered Arms on the button are on a shield on a CREGOE-COLMORE family memorial gravestone, in St. Mary's churchyard in Charlton Kings in Gloucestershire...

Wow Dave, that's just fascinating - to tie it down to a local family is superb - with your permission can I pass it on to the Charlton Kings heritage group - they may additional local records that may help tell the story associated with this otherwise overlooked button find :g38: :g38:
