Lead dress or hem curtain weights.

Post by Donnydave »

I am seeing a lot of comments from people saying that hem weights are now known to be buttons, and they had material around them then sewn onto garments :g43: I like to think the original idea of weighting down long dresses or curtains is a more plausible idea :g58: Some of the hem weights I have found are quite heavy and a few of these sewn down the front of a dress or jacket would be quite a
weight to be carrying :g43: Anybody got any thoughts on this, or better still pictures of them in use ?

I am with you Dave.
I used to have an issue regarding having an inferiority complex, I no longer have an issue with being inferior.

It will be difficult to show pictures of a hem weight in use.
But weight (sic) a moment. I'll try one on the palm of my hand. Not easy.

Hi John I wonder if there is a mixture out there, some thinner ones lead buttons and the thicker more substantial hem weights :g43: Ged Dodd is one of those that insist's they are from clothe covered buttons :g58:
