Advice on new camera please
All you great photographers on the forum can, hopefully, come to my help with this one...............
I am buying a bridge camera for the first time and need it for some finds photography and also as a general lanscape, portrait and everything camera, just stepping up from the compacts really. I can't stretch to an SLR yet so am looking for the best I can get at about the £250 mark. I have seen the Fujifilm FinePix HS30EXR at about £243 and it looks about right for what I need. Does anyone use this camera or have any other suggestions for me to look at please?
Any advice would be gratefully received.................
Thanks
Tom

I used to have the HS20 and that was a great camera for the price. I think your choice of the Hs30 at £243 is a good one. Each will have their own opinion of course (Dont ever ask Nikon or Canon when you upgrade to DSLR) but I think at that pricepoint the HS30 takes some beating.

Re: Advice on new camera please
All my pics of finds on here for the last few years was with a used Sony DSC-H10 that I bought off e-bay for £64 I imagine Sony,s latest replacement would be a good buy this camera is still going strong and if I am honest I prefer it to my Nikon DSLR

Canon PowerShot SX40HS is second to none on macro ,fantastic allround camera .

Re: Advice on new camera please
I had a fuji bridge prior to my canon Tom, hindsight being what it is and devaluation, I wished I waited the extra and just gone straight to the canon
The Fuji filled a gap in time, and emptied my wallet.
The 450ds are a nice piece of kit and as they are "old" now (2 models behind current), there are some cracking deals on them about if you look. I thin the last one I saw was about 369 inc the 18-55 lens.
Consider buying used if you seriously mean it to be a bridge between what you had and what you want. The real problem with DSLR is the fact that you're always skint after you get one

Re: Advice on new camera please
I just picked up one of those from a chap in our astronomy club who was upgrading.bigal13 wrote:Canon PowerShot SX40HS is second to none on macro ,fantastic all round camera .

He only wanted £150 for it.
Just got to learn how to drive it now.
As you say, fantastic macro. You can have the object virtually touching the lens and it still focuses.
Good in low light too.
