Evidence from Suffolk

Post by colin »

Having nothing better to do today, I walked round the estate checking-out the vast ramparts that have thrown up of what we call "Black Death" (because it is death to metal-detecting) and the council call "Green Manure". I have report that they at last appear to be getting their act together (getting being the operative term) as one can see at a distance there is not the usual bunting and garlands streaming to the leeward in a smart breeze. Closer inspection reveals that yes, they have removed a good proportion of extraneous material (particularly aluminium foil), but it probably only just comes within the meaning of "The Act". All I have to do now, is clear- up 5000 acres of land strewn with concentrated crap that has built-up over the last 10 yrs.

Sorry Stu, I guess we are all in the same boat with this one. I am in the privileged position of not only having the whole Estate to detect on; ramble; cut firewood; gain access for fishing but also a ready supply of surplus vegetables to name but a few. Need a chap say more?
