Just thought ide post this on here as im confused
This monday i was visiting farms regarding getting digs for yorkshire searchers i don't ring farms i travel every monday -tuesday
I was visiting farms surrounding the selby area i know alot of clubs have detected in Selby and regarding green waste the damage as been done.
But i got talking to a farmer in his kitchen while showing him our papers regarding our insurance and forum rules and search agreement i asked do you have green waste on your fields i was shocked with the responce i got
Farmers reply was .......
We had 4000 tones of green waste in stock piles in 4 fields also my brothers all have farms around me within a 4 mile radius all have stock piles of Green waste
Then in january 2014 we all get letters telling us if we spread the stock piles of green waste on our fields we could get prosecuted
after we have recieved the letter
Then we had to wait for it all been collected by the company that supplied us it...
I asked what was the reason ?
Reply was ...
Well apparently the green waste was contaminated with metal pieces and crushed kitchen units which contains dangourous chemicals to preserve it in its life time Also batteries / bulbs /curcuit boards
The farmer then sald we have had nothing since the stock piles were took away.
As far as we see it THE FARMER SALD the company that supply us the waste asn't told us exactly whats in the green waste and something must of happened for them to take the waste back
6 FARMS HAVE HAD STOCK PILES REMOVED SINCE JANUARY THAT THE FARMER KNOWS OF AND THE STOCK PILES HAVENT BEEN REPLACED
The farmer was then told we will be replacing the waste with proper green waste from a private waste management company
.....................................................
Does anyone know why there taking the stock piles back As a pertition worked - Are the companies starting to see that what there doing is wrong - are they desposing of waste thats dangourse that should not be in fields were our veg is grown
(as this happened in the area your detecting)

Re: Green Waste "whats Happened"
I seem to remember that one company last year was prosecuted with a heavy fine for contamination within the waste?
Deus, XP GMP, CS 4Pi, Canon 450d, Garmin GPS, PAS Self Recorder.
Hamster Count 55. Then so far this year 0 to the Deus.
Denarius Count 7. Then so far this year 0.

Re: Green Waste "whats Happened"
There has been lots going on "behind the scenes" with people contacting the Environment Agency and several companies being prosecuted (often followed by "mysterious fires") at the plants.
We had similar in Leicestershire with mashed IKEA MDF that contains all sorts of toxins so it seems after lots of different groups protesting somebody listened. Our supplier was Vital Earth in Derbyshire (since fined around £60k and mysteriously caught fire!)..... showed the farmer the crud in it and he was shocked.
It has been permanently on the NCMD agenda and was frequently brought up at Sports & Recreational Alliance (SARA) meetings by the NCMD rep.

Re: Green Waste "whats Happened"
I am sure that the contribution of your every day detectorists, who have made complaints will have served it usefulness. Sure the organisations do have punch, but, as has been shown in the past, unity and determination can break down barriers.
It is not necessary to put certain groups up as all important in getting results, although they do a great job on behalf of those with an interest in our great hobby.

I used to have an issue regarding having an inferiority complex, I no longer have an issue with being inferior.

Thanks for the posts everyone
I think someone is finally listening
And the waste companies are scared and
They should be

Re: Green Waste "whats Happened"
While people are listening now its too late for many fields round south Yorkshire ,While we as a club new of this green waste and also have had chance to write in metal detecting mags some years back about it ,But refused as some farmers may put this stuff on just to spite metal detectorist ... So in response would any detectorist like to hep remove this stuff off some fieldsSODBUSTER wrote:Thanks for the posts everyone
