Re: Lead bag and cloth seals
That top one is interesting - have you any ideas what that symbol is? - http://www.bagseals.org/gallery/main.ph ... emId=22911
Any chance of easing the bent rivet lobe open on the bottom one - looks to be something stamped on it (the writer of this suggestion bears no responsibility for any damage caused )

Hi Stu
This is the earlier seal with the rivet lobe opened up. Just the letters WF and some scroll work as far as I can see.............

Thanks Dave - it's a Prussian customs seal - see bottom of this page - http://www.bagseals.org/gallery/main.ph ... g2_page=71
Thanks Tom - you don't think it could be a lion or some other quadruped beneath the WF ?

Let's hope so. Don't know if you know Nasher but he has a field in Hertfordshire that turns up loads of great quality cloth seals - we still haven't worked out why??tomredmayne wrote:Thanks Stu..........this is a new site I have and they have all come from an area about 100m square.............maybe something significant going on?.......
