Amsterdam drained a canal.........

Post by tomredmayne »

Amsterdam drained a canal and put everything they found online, organized by time from AD 1300 to the present day... from pokemon tokens, to pipes, to guns, to human bones. Fascinating!

Blimey I cannot believe the age of some items, how old is the canal I wonder.

Someone has spent an awful lot of time recording that lot!

Thanks for posting.

That is amazing, especially in the chronological order it's been laid out - makes you wonder in a few hundred years they'll be saying about all the phones and SIM cards :g50:

Some brilliant finds I wonder of they metal detected it or just sifted through it with riddles? It must have been hard work because the mud in canals is very deep, I saw a clip on you tube where an hole appeared in a section of canal near Manchester and it emptied completely between two locks and there was bikes motorbikes, shopping trolleys in fact everything including the kitchen sink showing :g58: But those coins, combs, pins etc would not be easy to find :g43:

Thanks for the link Tom. That is just an amazing project, and to have everything illustrated makes it so interesting.
