I am seeing a lot of comments from people saying that hem weights are now known to be buttons, and they had material around them then sewn onto garments I like to think the original idea of weighting down long dresses or curtains is a more plausible idea Some of the hem weights I have found are quite heavy and a few of these sewn down the front of a dress or jacket would be quite a
weight to be carrying Anybody got any thoughts on this, or better still pictures of them in use ?

I am with you Dave.
I used to have an issue regarding having an inferiority complex, I no longer have an issue with being inferior.

It will be difficult to show pictures of a hem weight in use.
But weight (sic) a moment. I'll try one on the palm of my hand. Not easy.

Hi John I wonder if there is a mixture out there, some thinner ones lead buttons and the thicker more substantial hem weights Ged Dodd is one of those that insist's they are from clothe covered buttonsOld Git John wrote:I am with you Dave.
