I know nighthawking has been around for years, but it seems to be more prolific than ever. either that or more people are getting caught

You are correct and its partly the price of the Commerclisation of our old hobby of metal detecing/History Hunting.
Electronic data access has also made things worse.
Gone are the days of sitting in the cenral library hunting for histroical data.
All rather sad, but at least we enjoyed those happy days of yesteryear.
Happy Hunting,
Jerry Morris.

Yes, the excitement of going to the library when I could get the day off, then the sifting through books and that phish machine looking for snippets of info. looking back it seems such an effort. The museum was always a good source of information. Then the challenge of finding the right area, then pinning down the fields, and finally the apprehension of knocking on the landowners door to ask for permission and explaining what a metal detector was and what it does. It was actually a lot of hard work and most of the time nothing much of interest came from all this hard work Oh well. It was still the challenge of the chase.
Like you say Jerry, electronic data access, it has given people all the information they need at their fingertips these days. still, I suppose it's called 'progress'
All the best, Keith.
