Thats not good enough history hunter.

If you want to find hammerd here are some tips.

1. Get an "Explorer" O.S map and look for land next to - churches, wells, springs, rivers and streams, look for south facing slopes.

2. Get some land, and make it arable (pasture sucks alot of the time)

3. Do research - place names, field names, ask locals, look at aerial photography.

4. Go to the farms closest to your chosen site for permission.

Ive got a comprehensive list of potential sites from all over the country. If you PM me with an area you are interested in, I can check my database and see what comes up, if you like, but you will need a map for refrence :)
Make it easy for me please.... I'll lend you my gps, plant one for me and then give me the BNG where it's hidden I'll worship the ground you're standing on. :g5b: :g5b: :g5b:
Thank you very much. Cheers :g9:

I find it as interesting to compare hammered finds total along side current machine at the time ie,Explorer SE 18 months detecting 1.5 hammered,Sovereign 1 year/Goldmaxx 3 years or so detecting,25 hammered or there abouts, more to the Goldmaxx than any machine ever. Not that i want to turn this into a detector v detector wrangle.

A bloke at a club i used to go to was getting the find of the month pretty regular and he was always fetching the goodies in and always bragging about what he had found ,until one day one of the other blokes did a posititive id and said that it was off ebay, his credability went down hill from then,so the moral of this story is there is a difference between "finding" and finding. Not that i am accusing anyone of "finding"

 28 to date. Last one a Lizzy sixpence. A mate phoned tonight to tell me my treasure find was featured in a Suffolk paper on Saturday and in passing said he had found 20 hammered in one field in three weeks

I think it must be down to where you look.

An interesting question would be how many cut halfs or quarters are being found.....tricky swines these
