ANOTHER I.D. Please?

Post by muddy »

Unusual piece of bronze. It measures approx 34mm in length. It is hexagon in shape externally, but tapers down. At the widest point it is approx 20mm and tapers down to approx 16.5mm. There is a slot in the side which is mirrored on the other side. There is a tapering hole along it's length, but not going all the way through. There is a straight hole at the small end approx 8.5mm dia.
Any ideas what it is?

Thanks guys for your thoughts.
It is very similar to the candle holder, but compared to the other examples the slot doesn’t look long enough and there is no cross hole either. :g43:
It could possibly be some sort of tap cover also. :g43:
I’ll let you know if I get more info on it. :g50:
