Garrett or Laser

Post by firesmudge »

Thinking about a second machine for my mate to use when I on the DFX tempted with a Garrett ace 250 or a Laser. Any experience with these machines, like ease of use, finds rates, etc. Will be used on farmland & beach
Don't wanna be to expensive as for casual use.Your views please.

There's conflicting reports about the Ace 250's suitability on wet beach sand.

How do the lasers go on the sand or are they a land machine?

The Laser Scout and the Ace 250 will both work the beach to a degree.

The Ace 250 is supposed to be good on wet sand, if you use the smallest coil.
On land, to get the best from the Garrett, it advisable to use the larger coil 12" x 9", which starts to make it heavy.
I still use my Hawkeye as my main machine, and I can use that all day with no ill effect.

They are both good machines

Hi dudes personaly i would not touch a garret even the ace 250 or150 .
But any of the Tesoro and Lasers are spot on for a first machine or back up, but are not so hot on the beach ( ok on the dry sand but most detectors are )if your cash can stretch this far go for a xp 100 .

Ive got a Laser Hawkeye, which I love as an inland machine, however i took it on the beach and on wet sand it was a total waste of time :g10:
Dry sand not too bad
{Still would`nt be without it tho}
